Hacker at expo

by Mark Rowe

The IT event IP EXPO Manchester has a hacker, Kevin Mitnick, as this year’s keynote speaker. Once one of the FBI’s Most Wanted, Mitnick is now a security consultant to the Fortune 500 and governments.

Mitnick will discuss how hackers use social engineering tactics to use people’s tendency to trust others, even strangers. He’ll be using live hacking demonstrations to show how people are the weakest security link in any organisation and how they can be manipulated or influenced into unknowingly helping hackers break into their computers. Attendees will learn how they can be an unsuspecting victim who can be manipulated into handing over the keys to the kingdom, if they haven’t done so already.

“Cyber security concerns are at an all-time high for many businesses. We’ve seen this reflected across our IP EXPO Event Series and we always have huge demand from attendees for information, expertise and advice on the changing cyber threat landscape. Everyone is trying to find that silver bullet but hackers are often one step ahead, making it increasingly difficult for organisations to keep them out,” says Bradley Maule-ffinch, EMEA Portfolio Director for the IP EXPO Event Series.

“Our mission is to provide our attendees with rare access to the industry leaders and world class experts that are creating and shaping technologies. At this year’s IP EXPO Manchester we’ll be providing attendees with the opportunity to learn from one of the world’s finest cyber security experts, Kevin Mitnick, which is something not to be missed for anyone who is worried about their cyber security.”

Now in its third year, IP EXPO Manchester will run on April 26 and 27, at the Manchester Central, Manchester. The technology event covers Cloud, Cyber Security, Networks and Infrastructure, DevOps, Open Source and a new topic combining AI, Analytics and IoT (Internet of Things).
