The Midlands Fraud Forum (MFF) annual conference runs in Birmingham on February 20.
Like other regional forums, the Midlands Fraud Forum aims to promote awareness of fraud issues and educate all on fraud prevention. In its six years it’s run masterclasses for members on topical issues such as anti-money laundering, mortgage fraud, employee fraud, investigation and prosecution, fraud in the public sector and insolvency.
Speakers include:
Gary Walker, one of the UK’s highest profile whistleblowers, will speak about his experience as CEO at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, who the NHS tried to gag over his patient safety concerns.
Dr David Walsh – Head of School Research, School of Law and Criminology, University of Derby, will discuss interviewer training.
His Honour Judge Purle QC will look at fraud trials in the civil arena.
Jason Hart, cyber security man and former ethical hacker, will consider the question: how exposed are we to the cyber threat.
The morning ends with a choice between sessions on whistleblowing: getting it right, by Alexandra Smith – Adviser and Business Support Officer, at the charity Public Concern at Work; and theft, fraud and dishonest employees, by David Kearns – Managing Director, Expert Investigations.
MFF chair is Mark Surguy – Partner, at law firm Eversheds. Visit http://www.midlandsfraudforum.co.uk
