Expo on workplace violence

by Mark Rowe

The annual LONE WORKER SAFETY Expo runs on Tuesday, November 24 at London’s Olympia Conference Centre.

Robert Kaiser, Chair and Organiser, says: “Our objective is to provide as much as up-to-date information as possible to reduce the risk of workplace violence. We also want to provide a platform again, where like-minded professionals can exchange valuable information and share their wealth of knowledge to improve the personal safety of those working alone.”

Anyone interested to learn more about this subject matter is welcome to attend, Robert Kaiser adds. Several exhibitors have now confirmed their participation and willingness to help visitors to find out more what type of technology and training can make a real difference in their safety.

Some of the UK’s leaders in the field and speakers are also planning to deliver presentations, all with the same objective and desire to help.

Nicole Vazquez, Director of Worthwhile Training, will explain how to develop the most effective and operationally sensible lone worker policies. Doug Melia, Managing Director of Safer Handling, will advise everyone on ‘physical confrontations’ and their appropriate responses. His passionate and extremely knowledgeable input will once again be a great highlight, say conference organisers. Dr Tim Marsh BSc MSc PhD C.Psychol of RyderMarshSharman is discussing behavioural safety and why people do what they do.

Mark Jenner, Managing Director of Assault Reduction International, is a conflict management trainer. His presentation will be for delegates looking into training on how to communicate with hostile and aggressive members of the public.

Walter Brennan, who worked for 25 years as Mental Health Specialist and Jonathan Fox, State Registered Paramedic with over 35 years of frontline experience, will bring the perspective of the lone worker him or herself.
