Axis Academy

by Mark Rowe

Axis Group – the security, cleaning and support services business – has launched The Axis Academy. That’s a dedicated learning and development resource, created as a new Group company. It’s develop Axis Security, Acuity and Axis Cleaning and Support Services employees, and ultimately on offer to clients, third-party providers and private individuals, the contract company says.

The Academy will deliver a ‘blended’ approach to learning and use a mix of training delivery techniques, methods and channels, including e-learning. Courses will cover such fundamentals as health and safety, and first aid besides sector-specific skills such as ‘control and restraint’ and food hygiene.

Axis Group’s HR Director, Naomi Austen, will head the new operation. She said: “Delivering meaningful training is a high priority for any business operating in the service sector, and until recently most have relied on external providers. By building our own resource, and our own skills, we are developing a new in-house model that will not only support our future success, but also the future careers of employees.

“Our ambition is to further improve skill levels and professionalism across the board. We believe we can do this even better if we can more directly manage, control and monitor the quality and the relevance of the training provided to every learner.”

Jonathan Levine, CEO of Axis Group, pictured, says: “We recognise that people hold the key to future success, and are our key strength, so we have built a strategy around making their working lives more enjoyable and more rewarding. To us, a ‘people strategy’ has to be meaningful, and is evidenced by providing the necessary skills to perform the job they are doing today as well as creating a strong career path for the future.”

The Academy will be based at Group headquarters in London. Visit www.theaxisacademy.co.uk.
