Stamping Out Crime

by Mark Rowe

The crime-reporting charity Crimestoppers with Post Office Limited is seeking to help ‘stamp out’ crime against branches across Manchester. The two are partnering to tackle crimes in the city against post office branches, while also appealing to the good nature of the public.

After a pilot campaign in the West Midlands last year against on cash in transit robberies, the two are now working in hot-spot regions to tackle crimes affecting various areas.
The ‘Stamping Out Crime’ campaign will use posters and tools such as social media to encourage the public to share crucial information that could see those who have committed offences against Post Office brought to justice. Crimestoppers is also offering a reward of up to £25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction for an offence committed against Post Office (in branch) that is passed through the charity’s freephone 0800 555 111 number.

Crimestoppers Head of Development, Anamari Bishopp, said: “There is a striking symmetry that exists between Crimestoppers and Post Office as we are both fully focused on providing a first class service to our local communities. Working together, and with the help of the public, we hope that we can stamp out offences against Post Office and its customers, so that we can live within safer communities, without the fear of crime. Tell us what you know, not who you are.”

Senior Security Manager for the Post Office, Rob King said: “Following the success of our campaign in the West Midlands last year, we are excited to once again be working in partnership with Crimestoppers to tackle crime in the local community. The Post Office is responsible for providing products and services right at the very heart of the community and it is vital that our customers can rely on these services to be maintained. We have a duty to keep customers and staff safe so are pleased to be part of a partnership to produce an effective crime prevention campaign. We hope to make a significant impact on crime reduction in the area and make our Post Offices safer for both staff and customers alike.”

If you have any information on any crime committed against the Post Office in Manchester, or any surrounding area, contact Crimestoppers – anonymously – on 0800 555 111 or through the Anonymous Online Form.
