Totalpost celebrates success of new x-ray range

by msecadm4921

Mail solutions specialist Totalpost Services Plc is celebrating following the launch of its new range of Astrophysics x-ray threat detection equipment at the UK’s Security and Policing exhibition.

The annual event, which was held in Farnborough, Hampshire, welcomed security professionals from around the world to view the most advanced systems in the UK, including Totalpost’s new XIS x-ray series.

As the sole UK distributor of the Astrophysics range, visitors at the event were impressed by the advanced technology of the x-ray screening system which detects threats in mail, parcels, freight and baggage. The product range also comes complete with industry unique six colour image detection for greater detection and threat recognition capability by enhanced atomic number recognition quality.

As a result of the event Totalpost has already received interest from a number of key industry professionals, including police forces, prisons and other Home Office and military organisations.

Another major developing interest group for this x-ray equipment are freight forwarders due to the latest legislative requirements for airfreight screening.

Following the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007, the U.S Transportation Security Administration executed new security measures last summer requiring 100% airfreight screening on both domestic and inbound US passenger planes.

With the responsibility for screening initially falling to the airlines themselves, a bottleneck was created which slowed shipping. Consequently the U.S Transportation Security Administration has now allowed freight forwarders, third parties and airlines to become Certified Cargo Screening Facilities to push the screening requirement further back in the shipping chain and help improve shipping times. Totalpost’s equipment is already TSA approved for pre-screening of goods going into the USA.

Totalpost Managing Director David Hymers comments:  “As all air freight into the USA now must be screened by the airlines or freight forwarders there is a real demand for high-level products that offer the most thorough screening process at a very competitive price.

“The exhibition was a huge success. The new range of Astrophysics x-ray machines attracted a great deal of interest as the technology is becoming known throughout the industry for its sophistication and ability to enable an operator to make better qualified judgements when detecting potential threats.

“We’re very excited to bring such an extraordinary range of equipment into the UK market backed up by support from our nationwide service department.”

Totalpost announced its partnership with US supplier Astrophysics Inc earlier this year to become the sole distributor of the XIS series in the UK and Ireland.

The XIS series will be exhibited at Totalpost’s stand D56 at the Counter Terror Expo on 25 and 26 April at Olympia in London, which has over 400 exhibitors and 9000 attendees already signed up.
