Shred-it, the UK’s leading information destruction firm, announces today that is has chosen the Volvo V50 for its new fleet of company cars.

The Manchester-based company will take delivery of a total of 51 Volvo V50 vehicles in batches during the remainder of 2012. The three year agreement will see the vehicles provided to Shred-it by fleet management specialists Arval.

The Volvo V50 is one of a range of Volvo models which have the Volvo ‘DRIVe’ badge, which is attached to cars in the Volvo range displaying the best environmental performance in their class.

All ‘DRIVe’ models are equipped with a conventional diesel engine and manual gearbox optimised for extra-low fuel consumption. These cars are also tailored specifically for low rolling resistance and reduced air drag.

Mark Francis, (UK Head of Support Services), Shred-it, said: “Environmental responsibility lies at the core of our business and our document destruction processes ensure that our customers’ confidential information is destroyed in a secure manner which also protects the environment.

“Choosing Volvo as our fleet partner is a natural extension of this commitment. The V50 combines fuel efficiency, reduced carbon dioxide emissions and driver safety, all things which mirror Shred-it’s own business values.”

Greig Goodings, Account Development Manager, Volvo Car UK, said: “We’re really pleased to be partnering with Shred-it, and believe the V50 is the perfect choice for the type of business the company conducts. The low CO2 emissions of our versatile DRIVe sportswagon will help the company meet its environmental responsibilities and help reduce fuel costs at a time when petrol and diesel prices are going through the roof.”
