OPTEX BoundaryGard detectors and Eyewatch Security protect yet another site

by Amy

Two dealerships that have suffered from break-ins and the theft of expensive car parts, despite a working security system, have switched to a solution that includes OPTEX® BoundaryGard™ detectors.

Wilson & Co has two car showrooms – one in Scunthorpe, where a catalytic converter and some other parts were stolen despite an operational remotely monitored CCTV system, and one in Grimsby, where there had been a number of break-ins although a guard was present.

Keith West, Dealer Principal at Wilson & Co, turned to Dean Bolton, Managing Director of Eyewatch Security, to design and install a solution to detect would-be intruders and thieves.

Having consulted with experts at OPTEX, Dean specified a series of wire-free OPTEX outdoor detectors including 20 wide area PIRs (VX-402R), five building perimeter detectors (BX-80R), and 14 30m and 60m active beams  (AX-100TFR and AX-200TFR) to cover the site out of business hours. When the active beams are triggered, the system sends an alarm to the Eyewatch response room where staff can verify the event and send a response team.

This project brings the number of sites at which Dean has installed OPTEX BoundaryGard detectors to 300 and he leaves no doubt as to why: “We have been working with OPTEX detectors for years, we rarely specify any other brand as they are so reliable and have one of the lowest false alarm rates on the market.”

The time constraints of this project meant that there was no room for error: “We usually allow three weeks from specification and ordering of kit to completing installation and testing,” Dean continues. “But due to the urgency of this project, the owners said it had to be completed within two weeks.”

Although this would pose a problem for some installers, Dean was confident of completion thanks to the ease of installing the wireless OPTEX detectors: “Not only are the wireless detectors easier to install because there is no need for cabling, but the view finder ensures that the detection area is easy to determine.”

Keith is so pleased with the system that he has asked Dean to design a similar set-up for the Bolton dealership: “The installation was completed in a short space of time, and also the cost was very reasonable compared to other quotes we were given,” he says. “The detectors have not given us any problems so far and the knowledge of the engineers at Eyewatch was excellent, so much so I have tasked them with installing the same kit at our Bolton branch.”

Paul Nicholas, Divisional Manager for Optex Europe, says: “When the performance of our detectors is married with the expertise and professionalism of an all in one security provider like Eyewatch, it gives the best service and ROI to end-users in fighting theft and criminality.

“Over the years Dean and his team at Eyewatch have confidently specified detectors from the BoundaryGard range on numerous occasions, having gained an excellent understanding of the technology and the product range, and it is through this expertise that optimum commercial benefits have been achieved and delivered.”
