GREEN SECURITY WITH ABLOY AT ECOBUILD

by msecadm4921

Security expert Abloy UK is to exhibit at Ecobuild, showcasing the energy efficiency benefits of electric locks compared to magnets, and offering visitors the chance to sign up for courses at the Abloy Academy

Abloy UK, available to visit on stand N1370, will provide an explanation of the energy saving benefits of electric locks that only draw power to unlock a door, compared to a magnet that constantly draws power until a door is in operation.

Seminars on the benefits of electric locking as well as the Foundations course on standards and legislation, and practical workshops on installing electric locks, can be found at the Abloy Academy.

Jon Burke, Marketing Manager for Abloy UK, said:

“Ecobuild is the perfect forum for the electric locks vs magnets debate, with visitors able to see exactly how some solutions draw less power, and are therefore less of a strain on the environment.

“Any visitors that want to learn more will have the opportunity to register for courses at our academy which has a brand new prospectus with dates throughout the year for a variety of courses, including the new Foundations Plus course.”

The market leading Abloy range of electric locks includes motor and solenoid locks, the most effective forms of electric locking. Solenoid locks, like the Abloy EL560, work by controlling either the latch or the handle, and are suitable for internal doors of public buildings, offices, schools or hospitals, and external doors of apartments and detached houses.

Motorised locks, like the Abloy EL520, work by motorising the bolt back once a proximity card is presented or a request to exit device is used.

Without a handle, which is the most vunerable part of a door, motorised locks are hands free making them a more secure alternative to a solenoid.

Also on display will be the EffEff 8037 electric strike for glass doors.  This product is an ideal replacement for a magnet, with clean aesthetic and easy installation.

Ecobuild, the world’s biggest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, takes place at Excel in London and represents the UK’s largest construction event of any kind.

Abloy offer a RIBA-certified CPD course entitled “Electronically Controlled Locking Solutions” which looks at the important issue of standards and legislation that effect panic escape and emergency escape doors.
