Tracking Staff

by msecadm4921

The Track24 product is saving lives and giving companies involved in the reconstruction of Iraq added safety, security and control, according to Track24 director, Tim Grant.

Through one portable unit, incorporating global tracking and satellite communications, the product allows its clients in Iraq and elsewhere in the world to reduce risk to employees, the firm says.

The units interface with software and global mapping, allowing companies to monitor their assets over the internet and pinpoint their location to within four metres. From within the vehicle, occupants also have a panic alarm which sends a distress signal in a crisis. A PDA interfaced into the tracking units allows text messages to be sent and received across the satellites, besides acting as a GPS device for navigation.

What they say

Tim Grant says: "A person in the middle of the Sahara Desert could press panic alarm, and not only would someone monitoring their location from any PC in the world see and hear the alarm, but their boss in London could receive an SMS or an email with the exact location of their stricken employee. What is more, the victim could then send a text message such as ‘Vehicle accident, one broken leg, medevac urgent’ vastly improving the chances of a swift and appropriate response. The products we offer have been designed specifically to cater for firms doing business in dangerous and far-flung areas. The totally global nature of the Track24 system offers a vital satellite tracking and communications capability where normal systems do not work. Track24 allows companies to be in charge of monitoring their own assets and employees without having to bring in a third party."

He adds that the firm is now working with the oil, gas and mining sectors. The insurance sector too is beginning to realise the implications of the service for managing and reducing risk, the firm claims.

Tim Grant says: "Many companies, military organisations and charities are now operating in riskier parts of the world and need to adopt technology to radically improve their ability to identify employees in trouble and respond to them. It is hard to ignore the technology’s potential to improve risk management. Indeed, we are proud that as a British company we are the market leader in the provision of satellite tracking and crisis management services to the commercial security sector.”

The firm adds that more than 30 companies and three governments are using Track24’s service in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Africa and South America.
