VIDOS, a software package, is VCS?s new fusion of their security and alarm management software packages. As well as their existing range of video monitoring, alarm management and recording functions, VCS has added touring and patrolling features for automatic guard tours, plus support for hardware receiver connection and a variety of operating systems (Windows and Linux). With VIDOS running on a standard PC you can receive, decode, display and record video signals from any IP network (LAN; WAN). You can manage the data while ensuring that all the monitoring data is always available to every other authorised PC in your network, VCS say.

Site map format

VIDOS has an intuitive site-map-based format. All relevant maps and alarm plans are automatically called up whenever an alarm is triggered so that you have information at your fingertips, the manufacturers report. VIDOS? touring and patrolling functions support automatic camera switching for a virtual guard tour around the building or secured area. Its alarm stack enables in-coming alarms to be handled efficiently and professionally at different workstations and its comprehensive database ensures that all alarm messages and processing steps are recorded and available for later analysis. – All features which are particularly desirable for applications in security centres, emergency call points, building management and security systems. As well as processing up to 16 video signals at once, and recording the data on the PC?s hard disk, VIDOS also receives and records all relevant audio and other transparent data, such as ATM accounting information. This provides documentation so that each alarm can be thoroughly analysed. Other features include support for VCS transmitter systems? multicasting capability, so that many users can have access to the same picture data at the same time; a job scheduler which sets up automatic recording procedures when you define which camera signals are to be recorded, when and where; and an archive facility with options for replaying, analysing, reporting and printing the collected data.
