Safer Socialising

by msecadm4921

AABC (Action Against Business Crime) has re-launched the Safer Socialising Award.

The same principles about responsible alcohol retailing have been retained, but the categories of licensed premises have been simplified and the requirements codified to make it easier for licensees to apply for the award and simpler for BCRPs to assess and manage. Assessment has been revised upowards to every two years from annually.

There are now five categories for licensed premises and the requirements provide some flexibility for differences in local approaches to licensing. The Gold/Silver/Bronze categories of award have been replaced by a single standard.

It has been decided not to produce certificates centrally but to let BCRPs (business crime reduction partnerships) produce their own certificates of achievement to reflect their local community.

All the documentation required for a partnership to adopt and administer the award, including the principles, licensee application form and category requirements are on the AABC website in the members’ area under ‘Safer Socialising Award’. They can be downloaded to BCRP websites so local licensees can view the documentation and requirements and print off and complete their applications.
