Portable X-ray

by msecadm4921

3DX-RAY is launching an addition to FlatScan-TPXi – its portable bomb and threat detection system.

Flatscan-POD allows Flatscan-TPXi to be used as a baggage screening cabinet as well as retaining its use as a fully portable x-ray system.  It is suitable the makers say for checking bags as they are carried in to public arenas or events, and for emergency use x-raying suspect bags, cases and parcels that have been left unattended.

Both units can be moved from venue to venue.  To use for baggage scanning, the Flatscan-TPXi is slotted into the Portable Screening Cabinet and operated as an x-ray cabinet for bags and packages. Battery operation allows it to be operated in areas without mains electricity.

To investigate suspect unattended items the Flatscan-TPXi is removed from the POD and deployed without the need to touch or move the suspect bag.  The system provides high resolution, x-ray images, and it can highlight the difference between organic material (such as Semtex) and metal objects, (such as guns).

Software provides image processing techniques that help the operator identify the contents of the package. FlatScan-POD has already been deployed in London and across parts of the UK rail network.
