Location And Risk Info

by msecadm4921

Infoterra, a wholly owned subsidiary of EADS Astrium, has a new contract to supply a Vehicle Mounted Data System (VMDS) part of the Imass fire product suite, to Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service (FRS).

This follows Infoterra’s recent VMDS contract with Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service, and confirms the Infoterra system as a choice for emergency services organisations supporting safe systems of work.

Already a user of Infoterra’s Hydra hydrant location and management information solution, Hertfordshire FRS has selected Infoterra to supply the mobile data solution for its entire appliance fleet. The contract will include the Central Management System, part of the Imass fire suite, to enable delivery of critical risk information to frontline crews using the in-cab solution, with data managed by the support team at Hertfordshire’s Fire & Rescuse Service Headquarters.

Commenting on the selection

Group Commander Steve Holton of Hertfordshire FRS, said: "It is essential that our crews have immediate access to the information they need during an emergency. With Infoterra’s VMDS offering we can take advantage of all the key data, from route planning and hydrant locations right through to specialist information such as chemical data, access points, pipelines and vehicle specifications – all direct from our in-cab terminal. Having already used Infoterra’s Hydra hydrant location solution, I can confirm that VMDS is another strong offering from Infoterra. The company’s Emergency Services solutions work well together and, in combination, provide Hertfordshire FRS with a fully integrated Risk Information Solution."

Andy Kerr, Fire Sector Commercial Manager at Infoterra Ltd added: "we’ve worked closely with Hertfordshire FRS to integrate our VMDS solution with their existing technology. The Operational Information System component of VMDS will be installed on Hertfordshire FRS’s existing Panasonic Toughbooks maximising their existing technology investment across the appliance fleet. When fully live, the Infoterra solution will provide accurate location and risk information supporting operational crews with tactical decisions both en route to and in attendance at incidents. In an emergency situation this can make a huge difference."
