JVC Goes IP

by msecadm4921

In an installation by ADT, CCTV product firm JVC has gone IP with CCTV at its own UK offices.

Its new system includes two JVC (what else?!) VN-C655UB fully functional IP PTZ dome cameras, 16 analogue TK-C655EB PTZ dome cameras and 18 analogue JVC fixed cameras.

All cameras are deployed across the JVC Business Park and monitor the perimeter wall, car park as well as loading bays, entrances and exit areas of the main office building and warehouse. Some PTZ dome cameras are also fixed inside JVC outdoor housings and positioned on 8m tilt-over pole columns.
Five Verint S1708 eight-channel video servers relay images from the analogue cameras. Milestone XProtect software manages the images, storage and camera output. Image recording is motion-triggered and recorded at a maximum of six frames a second using a medium compression ratio and a viewing resolution of 640 x 480. Images are stored on two hard drives using RAID1 technology and archived on secondary hard disk drives. The IP network security system uses the same physical network cable infrastructure as the data system and is separated using Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN).

Operators can remotely view live images and events using Milestone’s Xprotect Remote Client software at three workstations including a facility management suite, gate house and product demonstration room. The CCTV installation is designed for expansion and will be integrated with access control, JVC reports.
