Interserve Acquires

by msecadm4921

Launched as a part of the FTSE 250 company Interserve plc, Interserve Security Limited (ISL) – formerly MacLellan Attlaw Security – has acquired the NACOSS Gold-approved installer R&D Security.

It says it will now look to leverage the strength of its parent and the expertise in these two businesses, as well as investing in other services across a broader range of sectors. This includes clients within the commercial, defence, health and education industries, besides industry, infrastructure central/local government and the police.

What they say

“ISL will deliver a range of manpower-based security services including the provision of temporary and permanent guards, mobile patrols, keyholding, and specialist training and consultancy,” says ISL’s managing director, Mike Crump.

“More than this, however, it will continue to invest in complementary services, notably IP-based video surveillance and monitoring with dedicated emergency response, and other value-added services to deliver a much wider total security solutions package.

“Our mission is to build a business around existing specialisms and take it to another level, and this we have already started with the acquisition of R&D Security. The ultimate objective will be to provide a turnkey security solution, on a national scale, across the broadest range of disciplines, where the quality of service is determined by the calibre of people we employ, and the quality of the technologies we use.

“Interserve Security Limited has an advantage over other start-up businesses in that it has the backing of a plc with revenues of £1.4 billion,” adds Mike Crump, “and has, at its core, two businesses that have already carved niches as experts in their respective fields.”

Attlaw Security was founded by Mike Crump in 1996 and acquired by MacLellan Group in 2004. MacLellan was itself acquired by Interserve in 2006. Clients in the retail sector include Virgin, WH Smith and HMV.

The other side of its business is events, and a division of ISL – Attlaw Events – will continue to be promoted as a specific brand. It does football stewarding, providing teams for Wembley and Chelsea Football Club, for example, trained to Football Stewards Qualification level.

R&D Security has been trading since 1986, an installer of covert and overt digital CCTV, access control and intruder alarms, working with a diverse portfolio including law enforcers and the government.
