Insider Threat

by msecadm4921

Reporting from the recent SASIG Masterclass on “The Insider Threat”, led by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI), The Security Company has issued a report on the nature of the problem, and outlines the measures companies should take, on its website.

With recent surveys showing that 59 per cent of people would take information and data from their employers when, for example, moving jobs, data theft is a growing problem, says the Huntingdon-based consultancy. The report offers guidelines on how to guard against it and protect sensitive information.

"It’s not always malicious," says Bernadette Palmer, Senior Communications Consultant for The Security Company. "And many employees don’t realise they’re doing anything wrong. But it can lead to serious financial loss and reputational damage and needs to be addressed by everyone."
