Capped Key

by msecadm4921

The Jeflock is a new lock with a removable capped key from Jeflock, Kaba UK and Guardian Lock and Engineering.

Geoff Miles from Jeflock says that the key is held captive in the lock when the property is occupied. This answer the recent Government ‘fire kills’ campaign message of people being locked in by fires when they cannot open the front door. Geoff adds: ‘To satisfy insurance requirements and National House Builders Council recommendations, when a property is empty, the front door must be locked from both sides. Jeflock achieves this by requiring that the last person to leave the property removes the capped key from the inside cylinder. The key can then be stored safely or locked in an alarm panel which also activates a burglar alarm, which is an optional extra. The person then locks the door from the outside with another key.’
