BlackBerry CCTV

by msecadm4921

Qeeps, the CCTV to Mobile Device Service, reported at IFSEC that it has completed testing with the BlackBerry smartphones and certifies its use with the Qeeps service.

The certification covers all trackball and side-wheel models of the BlackBerry and third party compatible handsets supporting Java. The certification also includes the newer BlackBerry Curve models with support for 3G and Wireless LAN access.

“Our development of a BlackBerry compatible version of the Qeeps viewer application has been based purely on customer demand – especially from larger corporate organisations,” says Stewart McCone, Technical Director, Vemotion Interactive Limited – parent company of Qeeps. “The BlackBerry is a very popular device and its ability to support a wide range of cellular and Wi-Fi standards together with tight email integration makes it a good fit for the Qeeps service.”

The Qeeps viewer application for BlackBerry delivers real-time and recorded video footage
(logfiles) typically used with CCTV. Developed for various manufacturers’ DVRs and mobile phone types (Java, Symbian, Windows, etc), the service delivers CCTV footage to mobile devices even when a mix of vendor’s DVRs is in use.

The Qeeps technical team has been developing software interfaces for all the major DVR manufacturers to allow the service to connect remotely and stream video footage without the need for additional onsite equipment.

Qeeps delivers colour video and optional audio to mobile phones or similar hand held wireless devices using a specially patented version of the H.264 encoding standard for low bandwidth devices. Qeeps is running a free trial. To sign up for the end offer and security system installers simply contact the Qeeps service desk on 01845 521113 and provide the make and model of DVR they want to connect and the type of mobile device they want to access the service with.

Applicants with suitable equipment can apply for a free copy of the Qeeps mobile viewer software applications, Qeeps installation guide and Qeeps Guard account details which will provide one month of access or up to 60 minutes of free connection time. Qeeps is sold through security systems integrators via distributors Norbain, ADI-Gardiner and Videcon. For further information:
