Awareness Of Shopping Online

by msecadm4921

The Security Company has issued a checklist to ‘Safe Online Shopping’. Available at www.thesecurityco.com – the guide aims to protect purchasers from falling foul of fraudulent online activity.

A recent PC World survey revealed that over half of web users failed even to check for either the padlock symbol or the "https://" protocol in their web browser address bar while making an online purchase, making the checklist more relevant than ever, the consultancy says.

Bernadette Palmer, Senior Communications Consultant at the Security Company, says: "It’s necessary to remind consumers of a few important safety tips to make sure that all their online transactions are secure. Shopping via the internet is projected to reach record levels this year and it would be great if that wasn’t reflected in a rise in scams as well. Our guides are aimed to just prompt people into acting on what they already know but sometimes forget to put into practice."

Online guides are published by The Security Company every week in an at-a-glance format to help raise the issue of preventing online crime either at home or in the office. To date, downloadable guides are available on mobile security, office protection and home internet security.
