Zeidler on SIA board

by Mark Rowe

Geoff Zeidler has joined the Security Industry Authority (SIA) as a non-executive Board member with private security industry experience. In 2008 he was appointed Country President and MD of Securitas UK and Ireland. In 2010 he led the acquisition and integration of the guarding arms of Reliance Security and Chubb to establish the second largest company in the UK manned guarding sector after G4S. Geoff left Securitas in June 2013.

In 2011 Geoff was elected Vice Chairman of the BSIA and became chairman in 2012. He has been a member of the SIA’s Strategic Consultative Group since its inception. He is now a Partner with Wyvern Partners working as an advisor and investor with companies in the business services, technology, security and justice markets.

The regulator says that as a board member Geoff will work with interim Chairman Bill Matthews, and the other board members, to contribute to the overall strategic direction of the SIA.

Geoff was appointed by the Home Office as a new board member with understanding of the private security industry, and with the ability to represent the interests of the industry.

SIA Interim Chairman Bill Matthews said: “I am delighted to welcome Geoff to the Board of the SIA. His recent experience at a senior level in private security will significantly strengthen the SIA Board as we continue our work with colleagues in the industry towards a new regulatory regime.”

Geoff Zeidler said: “I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the long term success of the SIA. I hope my industry experience can ensure that the new regulatory regime for licensing security businesses is as effective as possible for all the Industry and our stakeholders.”
