Trip to China winner

by Mark Rowe

Leroy Russell, of Birmingham-based installer Just Security Solutions Limited is pictured left – the latest winner of a trip to China courtesy of Hikvision. The week’s stay will include a visit to the company’s head offices in downtown Hangzhou. At the end of the Hikvision and partners roadshow on Tuesday, September 13, his business card was pulled out of the bowl.

Roadshows follow in Leeds at the Cedar Court Hotel (Thursday, September 15) and Hampden Park, Glasgow (Tuesday, September 20), after earlier ones in Sandown outside London; and Ashton Gate, the home of Bristol City FC. See our gallery section for pictures also of winners of the sports cameras offered in a business card prize draw (and those who won the GoPro cameras didn’t miss out on a chance for the day’s big prize, because their cards were returned to the pot – and indeed Leroy was also a winner of one of the sports cameras earlier).

Professional Security magazine offered a bottle of champagne that started the prize draw; and the winner of that drawn by editor Mark Rowe was Chris Stephenson, of Nicom Alarms. More in the November 2016 print issue of Professional Security.

Among the visitors to the event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel – across the lake from the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and next door to the new shopping mall Resorts World – were consultants, installers and end users. Before a buffet lunch, they heard presentations from Hikvision on its licence number plate recognition, door entry and other new products; and from partner and digital storage company Western Digital; and Pyronix, the Rotherham-based intruder alarm panel company that Hikvision acquired earlier this year, which is offering its cloud-based app for remote setting and monitoring of domestic alarms, offered as an installer (not Pyronix) branded chance for revenue retention to installers. Also there to talk visitors through the products were Hikvision UK distributors: ezcctv, DVS, Norbain, Dynamic CCTV and ADI Global Distribution. The DVS demo van, featured in our July print magazine and also on the gallery section from the DVS golf day 2016, was parked at the entrance to the hotel.
