What could digital investigations and elephants have in common? A two minute 46 second video can tell you.
Dr Jim Kent, CEO, EMEA and Head of Investigations at Nuix writes: “Since I first became involved in digital forensics in the late 1990s, the number of devices and the volume of data involved in cases has close to doubled every two years. Forensic investigators must deal with nearly 200 times as much data today as they did when I started out.
So as digital evidence continues to play an ever-more integral part in criminal and civil investigations, those whose role it is to process and analyse the deluge of information, often stored across multiple, difficult-to-access storage devices, are finding their technology toolkits lacking in solutions to tackle such a challenge. The way traditional digital forensic investigation tools process each individual source of data doesn’t allow investigators to see the bigger picture of an investigation quickly – only the individual parts. If investigative tools and techniques don’t evolve with the evidence, investigators won’t be able to keep up.
Our elephant video illustrates this challenge and introduces a more intelligent, efficient way to approach investigations. Go to www.nuix.com/elephant
