Tech partnership on IP

by Mark Rowe

Intralinks Holdings, Inc, a US-based firm has announced a partnership with the Virtual Technology Cluster Group (VTC Group). It’s towards protection of intellectual property (IP) of tech firms. The VTC Group launched last month and is designed to help multi-national companies attract entrepreneurial IT companies into their supply chains; with global companies sponsoring industry “clusters.” The first “cluster” – focusing on cyber security and technology – is sponsored by Lockheed Martin.

The Lockheed Martin Cluster has been live for over a year. To facilitate communication between firms, advisers, investors and Lockheed Martin, the VTC Group has adopted Intralinks VIA to share and collaborate securely on confidential information.

In using Intralinks VIA, the VTC Group can enable this network of companies and individuals to share and collaborate on confidential information such as financial data, critical IP, patent material, corporate presentations and HR information without fear of data leakage.

Auriol Stevens, CEO of the VTC Group said: “We chose to work with Intralinks because it is renowned for its work in highly-regulated industries, specifically in financial services, where regulations are rife and compliance demands are high.”

The VTC Group Chairman, Ken Olisa OBE, said: “The biggest challenge for tech entrepreneurs is to scale up at the speed of their ambitions. Their second biggest challenge is conquering the fear that their big idea will be stolen from them. The VTC architecture solves the first and Intralinks technology solves the second.”

Intralinks VIA is a described as an enterprise collaboration solution that lets users exchange and work on documents on any device – wherever they are.

Dave Wareham, SVP EMEA, Intralinks said: “The tech industry is unbelievably competitive right now, particularly in London. The VTC Group is helping to break down entry barriers for budding entrepreneurs; giving them access to some of the best consultants and global multi-nationals like Lockheed Martin to make their companies successful. To ensure sensitive data from these companies remain secure however, the VTC Group needed to use a product that secures the IP of these companies while information is being shared and collaborated on. We’re proud that the VTC Group has selected Intralinks to support one of the greatest initiatives for the tech sector in this country.”
