Siemens clarify

by Mark Rowe

After the recent acquisition of the Siemens Security Products business by Vanderbilt Industries, as reported in the national and trade press, Siemens Building Technologies would like to clarify that this purchase refers to the sale of the Siemens Security Products unit and that Siemens still retains its Building Technologies business and continues to design, deliver and support security, fire safety and energy management products to its customers.

Siemens Building Technologies has its own product portfolio of building management, security and fire technology and has operated independently of the security product business for a number of years. The Siemens security portfolio encompasses Siveillance security management control platforms, SiPass software-based access control systems, perimeter and intruder detection, and a CCTV range.

The recently acquired Siemens Security Products unit manufacturers its own product range and supplies its portfolio via distributors and installers. The acquisition of this business by Vanderbilt is to assist their strategy of gaining a greater foothold into the European market and expanding their product offer.

Siemens Building Technologies continues to conduct its security, fire and energy management business from Siemens headquarters at Frimley in Surrey, supported by satellite locations in Cannock, Bathgate, Canary Wharf and Hayes to enable administration and support of its national customer base.

Dr Andrew Robinson, pictured, assumed the role of managing director for Siemens Building in March 2014 and has experience within the technology and construction industries. He’s worked within Siemens since 1998.
