Nottingham is the next stop for the Professional Security Magazine series of conference-exhibitions, and the first of 2014, hence the name, Security TWENTY 14; ST14 for short.
Our ST14 is running on Wednesday, February 5, at the East Midlands Conference Centre, on the campus of the University of Nottingham. The venue is a new one for us, but the format is the same as the three Security TWENTY 13 events last year. The conference runs morning and afternoon; there’s a mid-morning break and a lunch hour when visitors can go round the exhibition next door to the conference room, and find out about new products and services and industry bodies. Entry is free whether you are an installer, security or CCTV manager, or specifier or consultant, whatever your sector: loss prevention, banking, transport, guarding.

Here are the confirmed speakers so far: Mark Babbington of Centro; Claudia Gerrard of Excello Law (read her on page 32); Richard Stones of Nottinghamshire Police, on business crime; and Geoff Tate of the SSAIB. As at the ST13 event at London in July, Mike Tennent of Tavcom Training will be chairing. Just to briefly go into their talks: Richard Stones was last featured in our November issue after the Milton Keynes business crime partnership event; and will update us on ACPO-police work on business crime, not least its all-important definition for police recording. Claudia you know from her monthly columns; she will present the latest on employment and other laws of use to the private security sector.
Networking dinner
On the Tuesday evening beforehand, as at our events so far, we are holding a three course informal ‘networking dinner’ at the conference centre hotel, to encourage networking and mingling generally in a relaxed atmosphere. You can ask for a special bed and breakfast rate at the venue; dinner-only places are available at £35 per person.
