On board at night vision firm

A former North Yorkshire Police officer has joined the board of Nocturna Ltd. The night vision systems firm, a part of The IRNV Group based at Full Sutton, York, was a winner of the Queens Award for Enterprise: International Trade Award in 2016.

Mick Gains QPM who retired from the police in 2001 worked on crime prevention in North Yorkshire during the 1990s and headed the introduction of public space CCTV into the City of York. He was awarded the Queens Police Medal in the New Years Honours List 1997 for his national contribution to crime prevention and community safety and later went on to carve out a business career featuring in Who’s Who of Britain’s Business Elite in 2009.

Nocturna was founded in 2016 and can provide hardware and support to security, military, emergency and rescue services with their range of night vision products, providing low light imagery up to 500 metres, recordable. Nocturna’s sister company in the IRNV Group, Nitesite were winners in this year’s York Press Business Awards.

Mick will work with Nocturna’s international team. Mick is not new to business, having served as a Non-Executive Director with Guide Security Services a Walker Group company in Blackburn for many years. He’s a former Director of Cheshire based garden security company Gardien, Non-Executive Director of Goodmedia, Birmingham and Preston-based Grantfen Ltd, the security systems integrators who were Finalist in the Security Excellence Awards 2014. He has also run his own management consultancy Mick Gains QPM & Associates for the past 16 years.
