November 2017 print issue

by Mark Rowe

Now on desks is the November 2017 print issue of Professional Security magazine. As ever we cover the range of private security issues for UK and English-speaking readers, from cyber to physical and electronic and guarding security.

We report from the Security Institute annual conference in London (pictured), and the Retail Risk event in Leicester, where we heard about the National Business Crime Centre, which the Metropolitan Police have just launched; as a ‘centre of excellence for both police and businesses’. We look at healthcare security and continue our series as a ‘fly on the wall’ to see the stewarding and security operation at the summer pop V Festival at Weston Park.

Of our regular contributors, Una Riley talks maritime with Roger Felgate of association IPSA (which is nearing its 60th anniversary) and the cyber-security and information security awareness consultant and trainer Mike Gillespie reprises what he told a Surveillance Camera Commissioner‘s conference on the need to secure surveillance products from hacking. Plus the regular book review page; four pages of new products and services; four pages of ‘spending the budget’ case studies; and Roy Cooper’s gossip page ahead of the final ST17 event of the year at Heathrow on Thursday, November 2. Surveillance Camera Commissioner Tony Porter incidentally is among the conference speakers, that event as always running alongside the exhibition. You still have time to sign up for free to attend the event; you can just turn up on the day, to the Park Inn, but we ask that you register to help with catering for numbers.

Our monthly pages devoted to installers and installations include words and pictures from distributor Oprema‘s recent open day at their South Wales base that showcased their demo room.

You can also read that issue on our website – click on the ‘magazine‘ button. Past issues going back years are also there.
