Mitie results

by Mark Rowe

The contract services company Mitie has hailed its 100 per cent contract retention rate in integrated FM, in its half-yearly financial report for the six months to September 30. The FM contractor points to how it has retained Rolls-Royce for a further five years, extended with Sky for another five years and retained RWE npower.

Although the company reported a fall in profit before tax, to £50.1m, it pointed to revenue growth of 2.6 per cent, of which 2.1pc is organic.

Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE, Chief Executive of Mitie, pictured, said: “Mitie has had a positive start to the year. Our focus on the services sector, primarily in facilities management, will ensure we continue our long-term track record of sustainable profitable growth. We are the market leader in integrated FM and are particularly pleased with recent contract awards and retentions. This gives us confidence we will deliver a good full-year performance.”

As for the National Living Wage, the firm says that it’s positive about it, as it will ensure that many of its staff are better rewarded and feel more motivated to do the jobs they do, and will improve retention rates across the business; hence ‘no material impact on future earnings is anticipated’.
