Interviews

Mike Gillespie’s on board

by Mark Rowe

Mike Gillespie is the latest member of the Professional Security editorial board. Magazine MD Roy Cooper is pictured left, shaking hands with Mike, before the two went for a coffee and a chat at IFSEC last week. Roy writes:

How does Mike – of cyber and information security consultancy Advent IM, and board member of the Security Institute – see the cyber security field? “It’s just going to continue to affect every aspect of our home and business.” And to let Mike have a sip of his drink, we can say that you only had to look around IFSEC for signs of that. Old names in security such as Yale were talking of the ‘smart home’; companies from the IT world such as Dell were exhibiting much the same thing. On day two of the show, Mike was chair of a well-attended panel discussing the evolving relationship between physical security and IT. Cyber is part of our lives, as he says; ‘it will be impossible to extract ourselves away from it’.

More in the August 2016 print issue of Professional Security magazine, on how Mike sees the cyber threat – and what businesses can do about it.
