Institute new chair

Emma Shaw, Managing Director and founder of Esoteric Ltd, a Woking-based counterespionage and electronic sweeping company, has been elected as the new Security Institute chairman. She takes over from outgoing chairman Mike Bluestone, after the election by the Board of Directors, during the Counter Terror Expo in London on April 24.

She’s an MBA graduate and Chartered Security Professional (CSyP). Her early career was spent with the Royal Military Police, followed by a career in the UK Security Service before founding Esoteric Ltd in 1998.

She has served on the main board of the institute since 2006 being registrar and chairman of the Validation Board for several years. More recently she served as vice-chairman with responsibility for the Institutes strategic direction and finances.

Emma said: “I am delighted to be assuming this important industry role. This is a time of unprecedented challenge and change for the security profession and we have a tremendous opportunity to further strengthen the presence and role that The Security Institute plays in championing the professionalism within the security sector and I look forward to working with the Board of Directors and industry colleagues.”
