IFSEC launches London

by Mark Rowe

UBM Live has officially launched IFSEC International and FIREX International’s move to ExCeL London in 2014. On Wednesday, March 6, some 200 partners and premier exhibitors across UBM’s Protection and Management Series – IFSEC, FIREX, Facilities Show ,and Safety and Health Expo – were invited to see what ExCeL and the area has to offer. Relocating IFSEC International from the NEC after 16 years, the London venue will host all four shows under one roof from June 17 to 19, 2014.

Simon Parker, Managing Director, UBM Live London, said: “We are excited to be revealing more detail on our plans for ExCeL and the positive effect this will have. Following the extensive research conducted before the decision was made, we have taken on board all the feedback gathered from our exhibitors, visitors and partners to ensure the events are tailored to exactly what the markets want.”

Parker spoke to exhibitors of how the next generation of the Protection and Management Series will become a more integrated event. Uniting all parts of the buying chain, the new venue caters for visitors to flow between all four shows and provides opportunities for growth across all four sectors. Manufacturers and distributors, plus trade visitors will have greater access to end-users following the relocate. Transport links to ExCeL from the rest of the capital will make attending the Series more accessible to UK and International visitors.

London City Airport is a five minute taxi journey from ExCeL; and the airport offers access to 40 international destinations.

Showcasing Ecobuild, an event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, organised by UBM, guests received a tour to visualise the Protection and Management Series in 2014. Guests were able to get a flavour of what the modern venue will have to offer in 2014.

On IFSEC International moving to London, Peter Houlis MSyI, Managing Director, 2020 Vision Systems said: “Great news to hear that IFSEC International is set for a return to London. Given the world ranking of the UK’s security sector, it’s only natural that the world’s most prominent security event should take place in the nation’s capital.”

On FIREX International’s London move, Nick Baldwin, Marketing Director at Baldwin Boxall Communications Ltd, said: “UBM has listened to the needs of FIREX exhibitors by moving the venue from NEC to ExCeL and Baldwin Boxall is delighted with the move. FIREX has been a key exhibition for us and we are sure 2014’s show will be a great success due to the new exciting location.”

IFSEC organisers add that exhibitors have already begun to commit to stand positions in 2014. Recognising and responding to what the market desire, has opened up new opportunities for visitors and exhibitors from both the UK and overseas.
