The audit firm Crowe Clark Whitehill LLP has appointed Jim Gee as Head of Forensic and Counter-Fraud Services.

With more than 25 years’ experience, Jim has worked with clients all over the world in sectors including healthcare, natural resources and insurance. He joins the City of London-based firm from the chartered accountancy firm PKF Littlejohn.

Jim was the founding CEO of the NHS Counter-Fraud Service; and has also held positions as senior advisor to the Attorney-General, three Secretaries of State and five Ministers. Jim is Visiting Professor and Chair of the Centre for Counter-Fraud Studies at the University of Portsmouth. He is also Chair of the UK Fraud Costs Measurement Committee. He brings with him a full team, including Senior Manager Andy Whittaker and Manager Eoghan Daly.

Andy Whittaker has experience as a counter-fraud specialist. He is Chair of the Counter-Fraud Professional Accreditation Board’s Training and Education Committee and served as Director of Counter-Fraud Training for the NHS and KPMG. And Eoghan Daly has worked in the retail and food and drinks industries against fraud.

David Mellor, Chief Executive of Crowe Clark Whitehill, says: “Fraud is now seen as a business cost and, like any other such cost, it is one that clients seek to minimise. Businesses must ensure that resources are not diverted away from their intended areas, particularly given that exposure to fraud is increasing. It is against this backdrop that we are delighted to welcome Jim and the new Forensic and Counter-Fraud team. I am confident that the team will deliver sizeable financial benefits to clients.”

Jim Gee says: “UK plc loses more than £190 billion each year to fraud while individual organisations have lost an average of 5.6pc of their expenditure to fraud over the past 17 years. Our team has worked with clients in the non-profit, insurance, healthcare, natural resources and food and drink sectors as well as central and local government. The team stand at the forefront of research on global trends and is able to deal with a vast variety of fraud cases.”
