Facebook’s European and Middle East (EMEA) headquarters in Dublin was the venue for a 21st birthday gathering of the Irish chapter of the security management body ASIS International.

Organiser and veteran Irish security consultant Donie O’Callaghan afterwards thanked Facebook for making the event possible: “I have to say they pulled out all the stops.” Some of ASIS’ world top brass attended. Among the speakers was Jim Coursey, the California-based Global Physical Security Intelligence and Investigations Manager at Facebook, who described corporate security at the internet giant; and Facebook’s EMEA security manager Karolina Zborowski. David Snow, head of special investigations at Zurich Insurance, discussed cross-border investigations of identity fraud cases. His book Universal Scams and Fraud Prevention was reviewed in our December issue. And Mike Croll, head of field security at the European External Action Service, covered risk management. He was head of security at the Foreign Office, and is now in charge of security at the European Union’s delegations (the EU equivalent of embassies) in 139 countries, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe.
