Crimestoppers call

by Mark Rowe

The charity reporting line Crimestoppers is building on its ‘Crime Matters’ campaign to appeal for people to join its volunteer committee in Leicestershire and support the fight against crime in the county.

The charity, which has recently marked its 25th year, recently launched a national discussion on key crimes affecting the UK public and is now seeking out willing individuals. Whether your expertise is in business, the media, or maybe even fundraising, all that’s asked is that you have a passion for your local area and you share the same vision as we do – that everyone deserves to live in a community free of crime.

East Midlands Regional Manager, Kiran Dhanda, said: “Volunteering for Crimestoppers is a great way to make a difference and I’m really looking forward to growing our team to make Leicestershire a safer place to live and work. You can dedicate as much or as little time as you like – every little helps and your efforts will be rewarded with the satisfaction that you are playing a part in keeping your community safe.”

“Roles could be anything from representing Crimestoppers at major events, visiting schools and business organisations to talk about Crimestoppers or simply placing posters and information cards throughout your community.

“Any help would be greatly appreciated. You really could make a difference.”

And Leicestershire Police Chief Constable, Simon Cole, said: “We work very closely in partnership with Crimestoppers and we fully support the work they do in our communities.”

Crimestoppers is a charity which helps the police to solve crimes by operating the 24/7 telephone number 0800 555 111 which people can ring to pass on information about crimes anonymously. They can also use our ‘giving information’ form via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

Around 20 people are arrested and charged every day as a result of information given to Crimestoppers.
