Games lessons date

by Mark Rowe

Seeking to share the lessons that have been learned from the 2012 London Olympic Games, the contract security company Securitas is running a business seminar for businesses preparing for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The firm is hosting the Business Continuity Seminar on Tuesday, October 2 at The National Stadium, Hampden Park, Glasgow. The seminar will provide an opportunity to review the lessons learnt by businesses and security providers from the London Olympics. It will also discuss how this will impact Scotland’s handling of Commonwealth Games of 2014.

Speakers already confirmed include Geoff Zeidler, Chairman of the BSIA, and Clint Reid, Head of Profit Protection for Marks and Spencer. Announcements as to the topics to be covered are due to be released in the near future.

Geoff Zeidler said: “This seminar is about getting industry thinking about the Commonwealth Games right now. They should already be thinking about contingency plans and they need to understand the impact that holding this event in a city like Glasgow is going to have on their workforce, transport and logistics. With the Olympics fresh in everyone’s mind, now is the time to start talking about 2014 and for businesses to start thinking about it too.”

Registration will take place from 8.30am, with the seminar starting at 9.30am. It is due to close after lunch at 2pm.

The event is not an official Glasgow 2014 or London 2012 event and has been organised independently by Securitas. The event is free to attend; and those interested in attending should contact [email protected], as attendance is by invite only.
