Indian hospital

Fortis Healthcare Limited operates across India, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and the island nation of Mauritius. It provides diagnostics, primary care, and day care in hospitals.

At one of the company’s hospitals in Ludhiana, India, as hospitals never close, laying cables for relocation of cameras is hard without interrupting business as usual. The hospital in Ludhiana remained in full operation throughout the CCTV install, and the installer managed to fit the cabling without disturbing patients or damaging anything. Computer Services Integration Pvt. Ltd. – a company with experience in IP surveillance, network infrastructure, wireless and video, and data and audio projects – with TaIwanese manufacturer VIVOTEK had all systems were up and running by October 2013.

Guarding expensive medical equipment and the safety of staff and personnel were the primary concerns. Choosing the right hardware was a matter of four main aspects: patient movement, patient and employee security, and grounds security. Inside the hospital 54 units of the IP8133 model were mounted. This camera allows users to receive multiple streams and is the makers say an option for keeping a remote eye on patients and staffs. The camera features tamper detection, 32-channel recording software, and a built-in passive infra-red sensor for human detection. Five IP8332 units were used for monitoring outside the hospital. The bullet-style network camera performs well in outdoor settings, with a removable infra-red-cut filter for day and night use, IR illuminators effective up to lengths of 15m, and multiple streams.

All video streams captured by cameras are fed through video management software ST7501, pictured, for the user to control and manage the streams from a single location. Using ST7501, real-time remote monitoring, recording, playback and event trigger management functions can be operated by the user.

AP Singh, regional IT head of Fortis Hospital, said: “The system integrator did a really good job setting up the surveillance system despite the challenge of working in a hospital open 24-hours. Once the system was in place I was really impressed with the user friendliness of it all, particularly the way in which ST7501 software integrates everything into an easy to operate system.”
