New SIA chief welcomed

by Mark Rowe

Alan Clamp will be the new Security Industry Authority (SIA) Chief Executive, and takes over from Bill Butler on June 1. He’s the Chief Executive of the Human Tissue Authority (HTA).

He has a background in the field of regulation and has the SIA says managed significant organisational change in national public sector organisations.

Elizabeth France CBE, SIA Chair, pictured, said: “I am delighted to welcome Alan as the SIA’s future Chief Executive. Alan joins us with an excellent track record in delivering successful regulation; we look forward to working with him.

“Alan will carry forward the business plan for the year ahead and will develop work with government, the private security industry, and our other stakeholders to ensure the SIA continues to improve the service we provide to licence holders and security businesses. The challenge of delivering effective regulation in a changing environment is one I know he will relish.”

Alan Clamp said: “I am excited to be taking up the post of Chief Executive at the SIA. The organisation plays an important role in protecting the public and improving standards in the security industry. I look forward to working with the board and staff at the SIA, as well as external stakeholders, to build on the good work of the organisation and to ensure that the SIA is seen as an effective and efficient regulator.”

Welcome

The consultant James Henderson, joint chairman of the Small Business Network, one of the bodies advising the SIA, said: “The industry is in greater need than ever before, for strong experienced leadership, as so well given by the departing Bill Butler. We cordially offer Alan Clamp, the SIA’s future Chief Executive and his team the same fulsome support of the past seven years, as given to the SIA teams and some sterling individuals, in often trying and unappreciated circumstances.”
