Dubai Police latest

by Mark Rowe

Launched in January 2018, Dubai Police has released its new corporate identity to offer security, safety, and happiness to its UK tourists and expatriates.

The new corporate identity, which marks 100 years since the birth of Dubai’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed, covers “Smart. Secure. Together” principles and will focus on security, communication and innovation. Dubai Police recently announced development of its data centre and plans to increase its use of artificial intelligence. The data centre project will offer statistical outputs of reports, studies, indicators and early warning signals to assist decision-making.

The strategic plan for artificial intelligence 2018-2021 seeks to integrate artificial intelligence techniques into criminal work by predicting crimes and criminal investigations and incorporating them into forensics, police operations and traffic policing.

Recently visiting Intersec 2018, the annual trade fair for safety, security & fire protection, the Dubai Police General Command (DG) presented its latest in smart services, including its Intelligent Police Centre — the first of its kind in the region — with its “Drive Thru” and “intelligent police mechanic” units.

Designed to reduce the number of people visiting police stations, the “Drive-thru” will provide traffic fine payment services and is part of Dubai Police’s wider strategy. Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, said: “We are looking into methods to facilitate our services and reduce the number of visitors to police stations.”

Dubai Police also plans to fit all police vehicles with an eCall system, that in the event of an accident, will enable all voice calls and vehicle data to be transmitted to police response centres. The Police’s artificial intelligence system enables a device to detect the feelings and movement of objects, which earns the ability to recognise gestures and remote hand signals up to 1.5m, like a human policeman.

For the new identity, events to support the initiative include the release of the new Dubai Police smart app and website. A luxury car show featuring its fleet of impressive patrol cars also welcomed its latest addition, a 12 cylinder, six-litre engine, Bentley Bentayga. Visit: https://www.dubaipolice.gov.ae.
