Cyber defence award

by msecadm4921

Intellect, a trade body for the UK’s technology sector, has given Dr Andrew Rogoyski the Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of his work as chairman of its Cyber Security Group, which is part of its Defence and Security Programme.

Rogoyski is Security Sector Leader at Roke Manor Research Ltd (Roke), a Chemring Group company, and was one of only senior industry figures to receive an award. At Roke, Rogoyski is responsible for setting the direction of the R&D team to develop strategy, as well as driving research of new technologies that detect and counter new forms of cyber threat to government and commerce.

David Callaghan, President of Intellect’s main board, said: “The Cyber Group is a very successful element of our Defence and Security programme and Andrew is one of the key reasons for this. He has been highly committed, focused and helpful in his support to Intellect and its members. He has also greatly assisted us with the formation of the Virtual Task Force, providing first-class industry expertise and guidance to the group.”

Rogoyski created Intellect’s Cyber Security Group in 2008 to provide a coherent voice for the cyber security industry. This includes defence, homeland security and resilience, as well as the protection of critical national infrastructure. The group provides a channel for government, industry and the wider stakeholder community to discuss policy, strategy and implementation issues.

Several government departments have been working with Rogoyski to help shape their industry engagement strategies on cyber security. This has provided industry views on the role of government in cyber security which has highlighted the need to engage at a strategic level and improve information sharing. Rogoyski is also a member of Intellect’s Security and Resilience management team and has recently joined the RISC Council, which aims to help government and the Critical National Infrastructure.
