Winchester business crime reduction partnership (BCRP), a part of the Winchester BID (Business Improvement District), has joined ABCP (Association of Business Crime Partnerships).
Winchester BID is managed by Winchester city centre partnership (WCCP), a limited company since 1998. Like BIDs in other towns and cities, Winchester’s is funded by shops and others within the Hampshire county town’s centre.
Winchester business crime reduction partnership (WBCRP), co-ordinated by Winchester BID, was introduced for the BID’s second term and is a pro-active partnership between city centre businesses and other organisations; Winchester city council and Winchester police.
Emma Shotter, crime reduction manager, said: “By working closely with organisations such as the community safety partnership, Winchester city council CCTV and Hampshire Constabulary we will be able to provide businesses with access to a range of benefits. The scheme relies on better use of information sharing and identifying the individuals who persistently commit crime or acts of anti-social behaviour in or around member premises’. The information then allows a more targeted and focused response to catch and deter habitual offenders by the businesses, police and CCTV.”
And Richard Barron, chief executive of ABCP said, “We are delighted to welcome Winchester BCRP to our membership. This strengthens the partnership network in Hampshire and will help to create a better understanding of the essential nature of partnership work with local police and the PCC for Hampshire.”
