PMP aid against slavery

by Mark Rowe

PMP Recruitment, part of Cordant Group, has launched a partnership with a Bristol-based charity, Unseen, to raise funds and supplies for victims of modern slavery. The recruiters will be promoting one fundraising event a month in 2018, while offering support to victims who may be seeking employment as they look to rebuild their lives.

The first campaign of the year saw PMP employees, with the help of clients and suppliers, put together 400 survivor kits for those people in need who have been subjected to modern slavery. The kits – of toiletries, clothes, hats and scarves – have a combined monetary value of about £8,000 and will provide enough supplies of this nature across Unseen’s safe houses for up to four years. PMP will also organise and contribute to campaigns to generate funds and offer further support: including community fundraising, a Football4Freedom tournament, family days, and a campaign, ‘Be Seen Be Heard’, to raise awareness of modern slavery in the labour and supply chain industries.

PMP will work alongside Cordant Group‘s portfolio of brands to provide free support to Unseen’s internal recruitment campaigns, including roles such as safe house managers, support workers and communications officers. The recruiters will also be helping to assist modern slavery survivors through occupational health support, back to work schemes, apprenticeships and flexible work placements.

Jamie Reynolds, Managing Director of PMP Recruitment, said: “We are extremely proud to partner with such a worthwhile charity. Unseen delivers fantastic work and we will look to offer support and raise vital funds that will be used to assist the many poor people who have fallen victim of modern slavery practices. We look forward to hosting a number of exciting fundraising events throughout the year, whilst also providing professional advice and support to those people who are ready to explore potential employment opportunities as they look to the future.”

And Andrew Wallis OBE, CEO Unseen said: “Unseen is incredibly proud to join forces with Cordant Group in our shared mission to tackle modern slavery. The ethics that flow through Cordant and their genuine commitment to inspiring change makes for an impactful and inspiring partnership. Not only will survivors of slavery be supported to rebuild their lives, but slavery will be tackled in business operations and supply chains, a risk area for modern slavery.”
