OSPAs afternoon summit

by Mark Rowe

The Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) is holding its first UK Thought Leadership Summit, on Thursday, March 1, 2018 before the UK’s second security sector OSPA awards.

Confirmed speakers include Greg Clark MP – Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; Ian Dyson QPM, Commissioner, City of London Police; and Andrew Thomson, Director of Property Services, The Shard. Also planned is a discussion with former offenders about how they tackle security and why they think it so often fails.

Professor Martin Gill, pictured, founder and director of the OSPAs says: “The OSPAs are about recognising excellence, the truly outstanding performers who project the best image of security and all the good it can do. The aim of this summit is to contribute to excellence by bringing different thought leaders together; people who excel and can offer their own insights for debate. Providing the opportunity to listen to what the opinion formers think and contribute to the discussion about how we can improve what security does and how it is perceived. The quality of what we have in the future will depend on the quality of debate we have now.”

The event is open to all participants in the security sector and its stakeholders and Prof Gill urges everyone to consider attending and be ready to pose questions to a panel of influential speakers.”

The afternoon summit will run at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, the venue for the evening awards, and is organised by the Outstanding Security Performance Awards with the support of the Security Commonwealth. Doors will open to the event at mid-day, lunch will be provided, and an exhibition of products and services will be on display. The event is set to finish around 4.30pm and the OSPAs Awards dinner will follow at 6.30pm.
