Fake ID DVD

by msecadm4921

Police in Llandudno are screening a DVD showing the consequences of under 18 year olds using fake ID to get into pubs and clubs.  In response to increased use of fake ID by young people to get into pubs and clubs in the area local police working with licensees and students at Ysgol John Brights decided to make a video showing the consequences of using, or allowing ID to be used by another and the risks young people take when they drink alcohol.

Local students feature in the film which shows what happens when a young person purports to be 18, then are arrested when their age is discovered and placed in a cell (which can happen as a last resort, police add) and are then banned from pubs and clubs when they actually turn 18.  The person supplying the fake ID is also banned.

The launch is being supported by local licensees and representatives from The Boulevard and 147 plus last year’s High Sherriff for Clwyd Lloyd Fitzhugh OBE JP DL.

John Bright’s School, Llandudno will host the official launch at 6pm on Thursday July 12, in the conference room. After the screening the DVD will be distributed to all secondary schools in Conwy and Denbighshire initially with a view to eventually being taken forward for all North Wales.

Local Insp for North Wales Police Ian Verburg said: “The local students have done a great job and I hope their efforts are rewarded by the message being well received. They have all given feedback that they learned a lot and were not aware of the consequences of using fake ID.  This initiative supports one of the main Licensing objectives to keep young people safe from harm.”
