Behind the Vikings

by Mark Rowe

A Runcorn-based printing company has thrown its weight behind Widnes Vikings in the upcoming 2017 Betfred Super League. TALL Security Print’s logo will be on the back of the rugby league team’s new alternative shirt, which was officially launched this month.

The company, based in Manor Park, got the position after taking part in the ‘Vikings Grand Kit Lottery’ last summer; some 40 sponsorship positions were on offer across the first team, academy and support staff’s shirts.

The aim is to raise valuable funds for the Vikings Sports Foundation, the club’s affiliated charity, that aims to engage and inspire locals to bring about new opportunities for all through rugby league. The charity operates across five areas: School Sport, Aspiration Centre, Vikings Health, Sport 4 All, and Vikings Learning Centre.

Each business that participated made a specified donation and then entered into the lottery draw with every entry drawn out rewarded with a branding opportunity for the 2017 season.

Widnes Vikings kick off their 2017 campaign on Friday, February 10, at home to Huddersfield Giants, before travelling to Wigan Warriors a fortnight later.

Brian Carney, Commercial Director at TALL Security Print, said: “Whilst there is a lot of friendly rivalry in our Runcorn site with fans of several local Super League sides, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity of this shirt sponsorship and the associated links to support our local community. Now in our 25th year of operation in Runcorn, we’re delighted to be developing our partnership with Widnes Vikings just across the River Mersey, especially as they prepare for another exciting season.”
