Wireless office lock

by Mark Rowe

Wireless locking is in use at serviced office providers i2 Office.

i2 Office offers fully serviced and furnished offices in city centres. Before using Aperio from ASSA ABLOY Access Control, each sub-let office was being hardwired into an access control system, which was proving costly and time consuming.

After being introduced to Aperio via OCS Security Solutions, each office is now secured via wireless locks, which link to the access control without the need to cable around the doors. Philip Grace, CEO of i2 Office, says: “Our mission at i2 Office is to provide the best serviced offices available in the market. We therefore only select the finest buildings in great locations. Even when it came to upgrading our security systems, we were looking for inspirational technology.

“Aperio appealed to us because of its innovative design and its ability to work with the security solution in place. We have found it really easy to use, as access can be granted or denied instantly without the need for updating cards. This is especially great when there is a tenant changeover as it saves us valuable time and resource. Overall Aperio has enabled an aesthetically pleasing, safe and secure environment for everyone, which is great news.”

The lock range is designed to upgrade mechanically locked doors and wirelessly connect them online or offline to new or existing access systems, with the makers claim minimal modification to doors and premises, offering a security upgrade. For i2 Office, a selection of more than 200 E100 escutcheons and C100 cylinder platforms have been fitted to date, with every office across the UK anticipated to change to Aperio.

Larry Lowther, Operations Manager at OCS Security Solutions adds: “The features of Aperio make it a simple and intelligent way of upgrading the controllability and security level of any premises. By utilising the existing access control system in place and not altering the doors in anyway, the installation costs are also minimised so more offices can be upgraded in shorter timescales.”

David Hodgkiss, Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Access Control, concluded: “ASSA ABLOY Access Control offers Aperio™ state of the art technology from a global leader in security. This assures our customers of high quality security that can complement existing access control systems, without the need to modify the door or the aesthetics of the environment. An all round smart solution as proven by its implementation at all i2 Office locations across the UK.”
