Victoria Place contract

by Mark Rowe

A three-year contract with Victoria Place Shopping Centre in London’s malinline Victoria Station has gone to ABM UK.

The new contract, won as part of a competitive tender, is worth about £2m, and will see ABM UK supplying the Savills-managed shopping centre with cleaning and security services.

Adam Baker, ABM UK’s business development and marketing director, said: “The contract win is testament to ABM UK’s understanding of Victoria Place and its prominent position adjacent to the UK’s second-busiest railway station. Our vast experience within the retail sector and our understanding of Savills (UK) Limited makes us well-placed to support and develop the team. Retail is an important sector for ABM UK, and we are proud to be securing, cleaning and maintaining over 85 shopping centres and retail parks throughout the UK and Ireland. Keeping retail spaces clean, safe and functioning is essential to ensure enjoyable shopping and leisure experiences.”

Victoria Place Shopping Centre is by Victoria Railway Station in central London, and is home to retailers, restaurants, coffee shops and convenience food outlets. The Shopping Centre was opened in 1985, and had a refurbishment in 2014.

Alex Clark, Centre Manager of Victoria Place Shopping Centre, said: “It’s exciting to be working in partnership with an experienced industry service partner, which is able to provide soft service solutions and meet Victoria Place Shopping Centre’s demands. The principal factors in determining and underpinning the success of a shopping centre is balancing operational management with customer experience. Experience, understanding and innovation are all essential components of effective service delivery. It was therefore imperative that we chose a company that is proficient in delivering these core competencies and one which would exceed our expectations.

“ABM UK’s vast experience in cleaning and security in the retail sector clearly demonstrated to us that the company has what it takes to not only uphold, but importantly grow, the proud reputation that Victoria Place Shopping Centre has built-up over the years. We are looking forward to working with ABM UK over the next three years.”

ABM UK adds that other clients in the UK include The Centre, Livingston; the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham; and Grand Central Shopping Centre in Birmingham’s New Street Station.
