Time and attendance terminals

by Mark Rowe

A case study from the camping and travelling suppliers Thetford of their new time and attendance, and access control system, including a number of workforce management terminals from Grosvenor Technology.

Due to the growth of production at their main factory, Thetford’s workforce management system was no longer up to task of monitoring ever-increasing staff. To replace it, the company contacted system integrators Atimo Personeelstechniek B.V. who combined their own Time-Wize software and server with seven terminals from Grosvenor Technology, among them the RS 07 access control and the RS 21 time and attendance terminals.

The modular back-panel allowed the terminals to be wired up and connected to the local network via Ethernet, saving cost and reducing disruption for staff. The Time-Wize server can be accessed on several designated network PC’s at the facility and thanks to the report generation, the new system also offers day-to-day benefits. Clocking-in is completed by swiping tokens over the RS 21 time and attendance terminal’s reader module; by using the terminal function keys, staff can also indicate the reason for absences and monitor their remaining holiday entitlement and overtime on the display.

Jozé van Schaik, Director at Atimo said: “We’ve worked with Grosvenor Technology’s products for a number of years, and its terminals are our preferred choice for use with our own Time-Wize® software. The terminals are extremely reliable, offer extensive functionality and can be combined with any reader technology, allowing us to deliver a carefully tailored solution for each client.”

Grosvenor Technology adds that its RS Series range of terminals are customisable and support a range of plug-in modules including card readers and biometrics.
