South Bank control room

by Mark Rowe

The upgrade of the security control room and office at London South Bank University (LSBU) near Elephant and Castle in south London is featured in the June print issue of Professional Security magazine.

As part of the project at LSBU, Thinking Space was tasked with designing and delivering the furniture and workstations. Working alongside the main contractor, Thinking Space delivered a main control room desk for two operators, increasing their useable desk area and improving workflow, the control room contractor says.

A separate supervisor desk was also provided, as well as a bank of low level lockable storage units. Glass doors on the units add to the light and spacious feel of the whole room. Thinking Space was then tasked with the design and provision of technical furniture for the security office front desk. The Romsey, Hampshire-based firm says that it provided an ergonomic solution to the split level nature of the environment and the need to create a low level desk area for wheelchair visitors.

As UK distributor for Novus MoreSpace products, Thinking Space supplied both areas with Novus monitor arms to hold flat screen computer monitors, which creates more desk space for operators.
