Royal Highland Show contract

by Mark Rowe

In Scotland, crowd management and event security company Showsec reports a contract to work at the 177th Royal Highland Show in June. Almost 190,000 visitors will make it the biggest event of 2017 in Scotland.

As well as the prestige of being associated with such a high-profile occasion in the Scottish calendar, the event security firm says it’s an exciting time to work with the Royal Highland Centre as they are investing heavily in staging outdoor events.

Showsec have landed an initial one-year contract for the Royal Highland Show, but there is the potential for a three-year extension.

Scott Anderson, the Leicester-based company’s Regional Manager north of the border, said: “The successful tender for the Royal Highland Show is a fantastic achievement for the Scottish regional operation of Showsec. As Scotland’s largest outdoor event, the Royal Highland Show has a long-standing reputation for excellence and quality. This is a great opportunity for us to build on our success in Scotland and provide crowd management expertise to help the Royal Highland Centre develop into Scotland’s premier event destination.”

Anderson will head Showsec’s delivery of the RHS operation between June 22 and 25. He will be assisted by Gary McGuire as Project Manager with Tony Hume, Steve Dyker and Andy Hamilton forming the basis of the operational delivery.
